Phlebotomy

Phlebotomy is the practice of drawing blood and is performed primarily to diagnose and monitor a patient’s condition. We offer a daily phlebotomy service at the Health Centre.

Phlebotomy involves taking a blood sample from a blood vessel in your arm and the usual place for a sample is the inside of the elbow, where the veins are relatively close to the surface.

All requests must be authorised by a doctor at the Health Centre. The doctor will inform you if you should fast prior to your blood test. If you do require a fasting blood test please ask the team for an early morning appointment.

All blood samples must be taken before 1500hrs

For information on obtaining your blood test results please see Test & Results.
