Charges

There is no charge for our Travel Clinic, which includes the appointment, advice and written information.

However some travel services are not funded by the NHS and therefore incur a charge.  All fees MUST be paid at the time (see below).  Due to high demand, we do not have the resources to invoice patients for these services.

In cases where the review of a patient’s vaccination status has highlighted the need for vaccinations which would normally be given under the UK national vaccination programme (e.g. a tetanus booster) they will be offered free of charge.  Similarly some vaccinations purely for travel purposes are funded by the NHS, so if these are recommended for travel to your destination they will be offered free of charge.

However many vaccinations for the purposes of travel are not funded by the NHS.  Consequently some of the recommended vaccinations may incur a fee, should the patient choose to take them up.  This includes the Yellow Fever vaccination.  Click here for the current vaccination tariff.

Please note that Yellow Fever Certificates also incur a separate charge.  Certificates can only be issued if we are administering the vaccination or if we have documentary evidence in the medical notes of it having been given.  Where certificates have been lost, provided we have this evidence we can re-issue the certificate, but this will be subject to the same certificate charge.  Find out more about the Yellow Fever Centre and current Yellow Fever charges.

Similarly the NHS does not fund malaria prophylaxis.  If appropriate, this will be offered on a private prescription.  Unlike many travel centres, Imperial College Health Centre does not charge for the private prescription itself.  However patients will be liable to pay for the treatments at the pharmacy.  Click here for the current prices.

The NHS does not fund preventative just-in-case treatments such as antibiotics to take with you in case you develop traveller’s diarrhoea whilst abroad.

Making a payment

  • All charges must be paid in advance or at the time of the travel clinic appointment.
  • Payments should be by cheque supported by cheque guarantee card.
  • We are sometimes able to accept cash payments if absolutely necessary.
  • We regret that we cannot accept card payments.
