• Referrals are classed as either acute (for recent injuries) or chronic (for more longstanding problems). The doctor who refers you will let you know what sort of appointment to ask for.
  
  
• Because of the demands on the service, there is often a wait for an initial NHS assessment appointment.  Private assessments can be accessed quicker. The initial consultation is a longer appointment as it involves taking a detailed history, physical examination & assessment / diagnosis of the problem.                                                                                                                             
  

• Sometimes there are appointment cancellations, so if you are waiting for your initial assessment appointment, please feel free to phone reception to check availability.
